Back to the future: milk machines return to school

Individual milk cartons are common at many elementary schools these days.  In Harrisburg, Virginia, however, Bluestone Elementary is revisiting old school milk dispensers for a few good reasons.

Depending on the community, milk cartons can’t be recycled.  Kids were throwing out 39,000 unused cartons each year.  And students only finished, on average, 70 percent of the milk in a carton when they did drink it.

Students seem to like the change which is being studied at Bluestone to see if waste is significantly reduced.
